the prison's lesson

11th August 2008. Our lesson today is about autobiography. “Auto” mean I while “biography” means depict a character’s life. Autobiography mean a person to depict his life and character. It contains reflection and introspection and is in public audience. Our text for today is Robben Island: The Dark Year ( The Autobiography of Nelson Mandela)

Nelson Mandela is a prisoner and has been apartheid to a place which is called Robben Island. He tells us about his prison life and how he deals with all the obstacles he faces in the prison. Robben Island is a big island and like what he say, he has to move from one place to another is like walking to another country. For me, I think reading Autobiography is interesting and entertaining. It sometime provides some knowledge’s of certain places like Robben Island, and that will spice up our curiosity. This may be an interesting topic to teach in class. Miss Dzeelfa wants us to come out with a lesson plan for this autobiography for this story. This can be a very interesting lesson. Students will like to know what will happen next and what obstacles they face. We can ask students to find out what they kind of obstacles that they are facing and we can also ask them to arrange the events according to the story chronologically. Drawing comics’ strips and writing a poem can be students’ post- reading activities. Asides from that, students can figure out how to fight for their freedom, how to design a plan to escape from the island, are the activities that can be carried out in the post reading activities.
